Ukrainian trains – day and night

When traveling on a Ukrainian night train, there are generally three levels of accommodation available:

  • sleeping car for 1 or 2 persons (1st class) - a single compartment for up to 2 persons, with a sink and running water; beds are situation side-by-side or one above the other, depending upon the particular type of carriage used;
  • sleeping car for 4 persons (2nd class) - a single compartment for up to 4 persons; you can book any number of beds in the compartment, with the other beds available for other passengers; the washrooms and WC are located at the end of the corridor
  • Platzkart (3rd class) - an open type of carriage with beds for lying down at night

Day trains in Ukraine vary by comfort and price levels. Between smaller cities and towns you will find regional and inter-regional trains of average quality. On the more popular routes you can travel in the modern and fast Intercity+ trains, with 1st and 2nd class reserved seating.

Thank you all! (02-12-2025)

"The team of people working in the Polrail Service Customer Service office are absolutely fantastic. They helped me through every step of what would have otherwise been a bit problematic for me, considering connection times between airport arrivals and train departures and subsequent connections.
They have my sincere gratitude, and highest praise.
